What happens in tissue culture? cells of apical meristem is taken which is actively dividing and has no chance of getting an infection. Then this meristem is planted to grow into a different new plant which doesn't have any sort of infection. Tissue culture is hence a process which involves exposing plant tissue to a specific regimen of nutrients and hormones and light under sterile, in vitro conditions to produce many new plants, each a clone of the original mother plant, over a very short period of time
