Helen's parents are true role models for other parents.

Helen Keller was born in an era where handicapped children were isolated by their own family. Physically disabled ones were considered mentally disabled as well. They were sent to asylums.

But, Helen's parents stood out in the crowd. When Helen became deaf and blind, they
didn't isolate her. They placed her close to their heart. Helen's father, Arthur H. Keller, made her happy by telling stories and making her forget her disabilities. Helen's mother, Kate Adams Keller, played a vital role in making Helenself-reliant. Helen could communicate via crude signs, run errands, dress us herself, distinguish her dresses from others, guess when there's guest, serve guests and so on. Credit of all these goes to Helen's mother who trained her well. Helen's parents forgave all her outbursts & consoled her.

Though Helen was deaf and blind, her parents had a strong desire to educate her.Though family and friends objected, they were inspired by Charles Dickens' 'American Notes' for Helen's education.

Helen's parents consulted Dr. Alexander Graham Bell to take advise regarding Helen's education. This meeting resulted in the arrival of Ms. Anne Sullivan who was ' Helen's spiritual liberator ' and made Helen educated.

Helen's mother respected the innovative teaching methods of Anne Sullivan. This is why Helen and Mildred, Helen's sister, was withdrawn from Gilman School when a conflict arouse between Mr. Gilman, School Principal and Ms. Anne regarding overworking of Helen. Helen liked her mother's action. Also, when Helen learned to speak, Helen wanted to speak first to her mother. When she spoke, Helen's mother grabbed her close to heart and took in each syllable she uttered. Helen's father expressed his joy and pride in a big silence.

Helen has mentioned about her parents in her autobiography with glowing letters. Hadn't they were firm with the goal of educating Helen, then she would have reached nowhere in life. Their willpower made up Helen Keller the entire world praises today.

Helen's parents showed us that willpower shows the way. They depicted true and purest love every parent must show to their kids. Even when disabled, Helen led a disciplined and happy life just due to her parent's love and care for her. Their determination is highly appreciable.

In short, every parent can take a valuable parenting lesson from Helen's parents forever.
