Hydroponics :

\bigstar It is the art of growing plants in a nutrient solution in the absence of soil.

\bigstar Hydroponics is also known as solution culture.

\bigstar Hydroponics culture requires a large volume of nutrient solution or frequent adjustment of the nutrient solution to prevent nutrient uptake by roots from producing unwanted changes in nutrient concentration and pH of the medium.

Macronutrients :

\bigstar These are the nutrients required by plants in large amount. They are present in plant tissue in excess of 10m mole/kg of dry matter.

\bigstar They are easily detectable because they are present in large quantity.

\bigstar They are usually involved in the synthesis of organic molecules.

\bigstar They are nine in number like magnesium, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, hydrogen, carbon, potassium, sulphur and calcium.

Micronutrients :

\bigstar These are also known as trace elements and are present in plant bodies in very small amount less than 10m mole/kg of dry matter.

\bigstar These are mostly involved in the functioning of enzymes.

\bigstar Micronutrients are eight in number like iron, copper, molybdenum, nickel, chlorine, zinc, manganese and boron
