Answers
Hydroponics :
It is the art of growing plants in a nutrient solution in the absence of soil.
Hydroponics is also known as solution culture.
Hydroponics culture requires a large volume of nutrient solution or frequent adjustment of the nutrient solution to prevent nutrient uptake by roots from producing unwanted changes in nutrient concentration and pH of the medium.
Macronutrients :
These are the nutrients required by plants in large amount. They are present in plant tissue in excess of 10m mole/kg of dry matter.
They are easily detectable because they are present in large quantity.
They are usually involved in the synthesis of organic molecules.
They are nine in number like magnesium, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, hydrogen, carbon, potassium, sulphur and calcium.
Micronutrients :
These are also known as trace elements and are present in plant bodies in very small amount less than 10m mole/kg of dry matter.
These are mostly involved in the functioning of enzymes.
Micronutrients are eight in number like iron, copper, molybdenum, nickel, chlorine, zinc, manganese and boron
