The thickness of the wall of the dam increases at the bottom. The reason is that the pressure exerted by the liquid increases with its depth. Thus as depth increases, more and more pressure is exerted by the water in Dam. A thicker walk is required to withstand a greater pressure, therefore the wall of a dam is made with thickness increasing towards the base.
