 Given : 4^{x - 1}  *  (0.5)^{3 - 2x} = ( \frac{1}{8})^x

 (2^2)^{x - 1}  *   (\frac{1}{2}) ^{3 - 2x} = ( \frac{1}{8} )^x

 2^2^{ (x - 1)} *   2^{-1(3 - 2x)} = ( \frac{1}{2^3} )^x

 2^{2(x - 1)} *  2^{-1(3 - 2x)}  =  2^{-3x}

 2^2^{(x - 1) - 1(3 - 2x) } =  2^{-3x}

2(x - 1) - 1(3 - 2x) = -3x

2x - 2 - 3 + 2x = -3x

4x - 5 = -3x

7x = 5

x = 5/7.

Hope this helps!
