u go to ur friends house ur house is initial position and ur friends house is final position when u come back to ur house then final position is ur house displacement is distance between initial and final position, ur intial position is ur house and final position also ur house the displacement is zero . but the distance is ur house to friends house +ur friends house to ur house.
