Atoms combine together to complete their OCTET and become stable In the outermost shell, the atom should have eight electrons to become stable and in case of 1st shell there should be 2 electrons for the same.And the combining capacity of an element is called it’s valency.

When the octet of an atom is incomplete, the atom gains or loses some electrons to form bonds with other atoms, forming anions and cations respectively.

atoms are combine with each other with the help of neutrons electrons and protons in the presence of nucleus nucleus gives power to the electrons protons and neutrons then the negative charge of electrons attract neutron of other atom which contain positive charge so in this way atoms are combined with each other.
