y = ( 8k - 5 )/( k + 1 ) ----( 2 )
x + y = 0 ( given )
[ ( -4k + 3 )/( k + 1 ) ] + [ ( 8k - 5 )/( k + 1 ) ] = 0
[ -4k + 3 + 8k - 5 ]/( k + 1 ) = 0
( 4k - 2 ) = 0
4k = 2
k = 2/4
k = 1/2
