hello friends I am new here. i want answer of this question . sponge is solid but it can be compressed.why? plzz i want answer urgently

sponge is a porous solid. ... A sponge has minuete holes,in which air is trapped, when we press it,the air is expelled out and we are able to compress it.

its molecules are little far as like liquids.
so the solids cannot compressed and sponge is compressed.
