Must be past tense because summary is based on story and story is in past tense..

Anonymous: You're wrong, you must use present tense to write summaries. If you still have doubts ask your English teacher
ShuchiRecites: Actually my previous teacher told to write in present and new on in past
ShuchiRecites: so i was confused
ShuchiRecites: but your answer sounds to be correct.
Anonymous: Search up 'literary present'. It's kind of a rule to write in present tense
Anonymous: And don't be afraid to correct your teacher :)
Niki2307: OK.. I'll clear my doubts from my English teacher.. and then I'll tell you woh right or wrong.. thank you..
Anonymous: welcome :)

It's very common to write in simple present. If you have to mention about some incidence that happened to the protagonist in the past use past tense only there, otherwise if there is nothing related to the past USE PRESENT TENSE ONLY.
