Hey!
Parenchyma tissue comes under permanent tissue.
Characteristics of parenchyma :
> The cells of this tissue are living.
> The cells di not show much specialisation.
> The cells are loosely packed with intercellular spaces.
> The cells show uniformly thickened cell wall and vacuoles in the cytoplasm.
Location of parenchyma :
The parenchyma tissue is found in the mesophyll tissue of plants in the form of spongial palisade parenchyma. It is also found in aquatic plants like lotus in the form of aerenchyma, which is modified, air filled parenchyma. It is also found in certain plants as prosenchyma in the region where mechanical support is required.
Function of parenchyma :
> It helps in storage and support.
> It helps in photosynthesis (with chlorenchyma)
> It helps aquatic plants to float.
> It helps in exchange of gases. Eg: The mesophyll tissue of the leaves.
Hope this helps you!
