The respiratory pigment in the blood of of vertebrates and a few invertebrates. It consists of a complex and variable protein combined with his substance called haematin containing iron. The blood in oxygenated form is Scarlet and deoxygenated from is bluish red. Hemoglobin is red coloured pigment in our blood. Haemoglobin has an affinity with oxygen and readily combines with it. A red coloured pigment haemoglobin is present in their cytoplasm.
