1)- kinetic energy( energy in motion)- The energy which is possessed by a body due to its state of motion
for example:- if you throw a stone on a window the glass will break this is because of the kinetic energy which was in stone

2) potential energy(energy in rest)- The energy possessed by a body at rest is called potential energy

for example:-a body placed at a height above the ground has potential energy stored in it
