From the rough figure, we get two triangles.They are ABC,ADC.

In a triangle, sum of two sides must be greater than the third side.

From ABC,

AB+BC>AC

3+4>8

7>8

Here it doesn't satisfy.

Here from two triangles one triangle doesn't satisfy so there is no need to check the other triangle.

So, it is not possible to construct a quadrilateral.

Answer: Simplest way to find is here.....

ABC make a triangle.

And according to triangle properties.

No side of a triangle is greater than the sum of other two sides.

Example-----------:

If AB,BC,CD are the sides of triangle and AB>BC &BC>CD.

But ......

AB<BC+CD.

hence same here also.....

AB=3 cm

BC=4cm

AC=8cm

And......

At last AC>AB+BC

Therefore no construction take place....
