Depends on how you define it.

According to my definations, the answer is yes. And it is simply because gender is a social concept. Gender must not be confused with sex.

Sex is something you are born with - a sex organ that in most cases can be classified as male or female. Though even in this there are cases of mutations that can't be categorised as either.

I would define gender simply as social expectations from the two sexes. This is why tradarionally there were only two genders - male or female. In society such as India, the number of genders have only now increased to three. This is because tradarionally we have only understood humanity to be divided into genders - male or female, that have very different natures, characterstics and destinies. Since tradarionally, we have defined these rules collectively, we refuse to think that the division might not be as strong.

In post feminist world, this is no longer the case. And even scientific studies have proven that there are no psychological or behaviorial tendencies that are unique to only one sex and not the other. And we are not talking about merely exceptions. The overlaps are significant. If you pick a random person who sees him/herself as agressive, it is not 10 out of 10 or 9 out of 10 chances it will be man. The chances are more like 6 or 7 out of 10. That is a big number. And thus any generalisation such as 'all men are agressive' 'all women are meek' are ridiculously false.

If the chances are not 50/50 in above cases, then this is because socialization has a role to play. Yes there are some harmones at play too - but these harmones are present in so wide a quanity in both sexes that we get all kind of people in both sexes. Same goes for all questions arising out of biological imperive. Women aren't neccessarily more caring for their babies just becuase they had kept them in womb. Yes, the fact that women will have children continue to affect their choices, women tend to be more careful with their sexual choices because they might have to pay higher price (babies) but it is only because individuals and societies still are ruled by Darwinish imperitives and will need some time to adopt to a freer environment where they understand fully well how much freedom they really have.

As people have grown assertive and society has grown more willing, many gender norms have been questioned and proven false. For example, men should mate only with women and vice versa. Or women can't take a up agressive jobs. Or men don't have a desire to look more pleasing. On the other hand, the trans people going through sex change to be of gender they most confirm with shows how artificial all genders are.

In a society that has overcome both evolunary instincts as well as social bais, there won't be any genders IMO. No one will need to change their sex because what is between your legs won't detemine your gender. That is part of my utopian dream.
