Q.1..] The length of the minute hand of a clock is 5 cm find the area swept by the minute hand during the time from 4:05 a.m. to 4:40 a.m.​

We know that : In 60 minutes, the minute hand of a clock makes one complete round i.e 360°, therefore in 35 minutes it moves through :(360/60) * 35 = 210°.

∴ Area swept by the minute hand during the time from 4:05 to 4:40 = area of sector of circle of radius 5 cm and making an angle of 210° at its centre

= θ/360° * πr²

= (210/360) * (22/7) * (5)²

= (11 * 5 * 5)/6

= 275/6 cm²

= 45 (5/6) cm².


Therefore, the area swept = 45 (5/6) cm².
