When the younger and the older generation don't back each other's views, The situation invariably leads to generation gap. This isn't a desirable situation for smooth functioning of social institutions.

Every 30 years the lifestyle patterns and fashion trends change. The older generation finds it difficult to keep peace with younger generation. Religion,culture, tradition e.t.c are the buzz words for the older people. The younger people like fun and frolic.

The two generations naturally are shy of each other and maintain a distance. This situation however is not grim.

If 2 generations Spend Quality time together the gap can be bridged For example - If younger ones accompany their superior to the doctors they can easily win their heart. Similarly,If older generation shuns their conservative approach and gives younger ones their own space. A harmony would be established and 2 generation would start liking and appreciating each other.

"A generation which ignores history has no past—and no future" is a well known quote by Robert A Heinlein. The humans have been inhabiting the earth for a long time, over time, times have changed and humans have envolved. Each generations has seen new changes and things that the older generation have not. This is the main cause of generation gap.

The most common result of the clash of ideas is distanced relations. Generally, a generation gap is mostly seen between parents and kid. It shows that parents fail to understand their kids and vice versa. The parents usually follow the traditions and norms. Likewise they want to follow the old customs and traditions. But the kids are of the modern age with a broad outlook. They do not agree to follow the traditional ways and want to live a modern life as other do.

This is one of the main reasons why the conflict begins. They do not reach to the solution and thus distance themselves because of misunderstandings. This should not be done. The parents as well as children should listen to each other's point of view and discuss on it. This will help to avoid conflicts and help them make a feeling of understand between them.
