The chloroplast is the responsible for photosynthesis, and thus is found in plant cells. The chloroplast is bound by a double membrane and contains a network of membranous sacs, called thylakoids. Chlorophyll is contained within each thylakoid, which are arranged in stacks called grana. The grana are connected via joining segments called lamellae. The grana are contained in a fluid known as the stroma.
