Nice question
Personally \times symbol used in three different occasions the cross product –vector product– (e.g.,).So it means it is same,multiplication.The used symbol depends on location.

hey mate !!!

here is your answer!!!

Speed = distance / time

or ,

1/ speed = time / distance .

here , we can't write ,

speed = time / distance
because

speed :-
speeds denotes the distance travel by a body in unit time .
➡ speed is a scaler quantity .

➡ it's SI unit is (m/ s ) .
-----------------------------------

let me elaborate more :-

Distance :-

the actual length of the path travelled by a moving body in any direction is known as distance .

➡ it is scaler quantity .

➡ it's SI unit is m .
_______________

time ( respect to speed and distance ) :-

time is division of distance / speed

it's SI unit is S .

BECAUSE ,

distance. / speed

=> m / m/s

=> second

============================

hence , Speed = Distance / time

or speed = m / s

we can also write

1/ speed = time / distance .

but we can't write

speed = Distance / time .

if we write so , than we have to take receprocal of speed .

hope it helps you dear !!!

thanks !!
