Hello.....What is resultant force?

resultant force is the over all force applied on an object

like :
on an object
2N force is applied from forwards and 5N is applied from backwards
the difference of these forces will be called the resultant force( we'll take out difference as they are applied from opposite directions)
so, 5N-2N=3N which is the resultant force in this example.
