Step-by-step explanation:

Number of pens bought =16 ×12 =192

Let the selling price be x per pen. so the price of 192 pens =192x

S.P. of 8 pens = 8 × x = 8 x = loss

Cost price of 192 pens = Rs. 576

Therefore loss = C.P. – S.P.

8 x = 576 – 192 x

or 200 x = 576

or x = 576 / 200 = 2.88

Therefore loss = 8 × 2.88 = 23.04 Rs.

% loss = loss × 100 / C.P.

= 23.04 × 100 / 576 = 4 % loss

(2)

Selling price of 1 pen x = 2.88

Therefore S.P. of 1 dozen pens = 12 × 2.88 = Rs. 34.56
