A body can only rotate when a net torque is acting on a body

A net torque can only be provided when a nomber if torques ( forces ) acting on body are able to create a net torque in a specific direction.

A body can only only change its direction when a resistive torque is applied against the net torque.

A resistive torque in any direction not against the net torque may result in increased rotation of the object.
