given,AB=AC. BC=24cm. ar∆ABC=108cm^2

area of triangle=1/2×b×h

108=1/2×24×AD

108=12×AD

108/12=AD

9cm=AD

in∆ADB and ∆ADC

AD=AD(common)

angleADB=angleADC(90°)

AB=AC(given)

∆ADB is congruent to ∆ADC by RHS

so,BD=CD

BD+CD=BC

CD+CD=BC

CD=BC/2

CD=12

in ∆ADC

CD^2+AD^2=AC^2

12^2+9^2=AC^2

144+81=AC^2

225=AC^2

√225=AC

15cm=AC

hope it helps...
