Answer:

It is very simple just use remainder theorem and put X=-3 in p(x) from which you get the value in term of k and then compare it with 10(1-k) and finally you will get the value of k

Solution :-

As given that

The Polynomial

p(x) = kx³ + 9x² + 4x - 8

When divided by x + 3 leaves a reminder 10(1-k) .

Now by using reminder theorem let us start solving it :-

As we are dividing it by x +3 , first we will make it zero

→ x + 3 = 0

→ x = -3

Now putting the value of x = -3 in p(x)

p(-3) = k(-3)³ + 9(-3)² + 4(-3) - 8 = 10(1-k)

→ k(-27) + 9(9) + (-12) - 8 = 10(1-k)

→ -27k + 81 - 20 = 10 - 10k

→ 81 - 30 = -10k + 27k

→ 51 = 17k

→ k = 51 ÷ 17

→ k = 3

So the value of

\huge{\boxed{\sf{k = 3}}}
