1)Ethanol can be converted to ethene in presence of concentrated sulphuric acid. It is called as dehydration reaction. b) Ethene can be converted to ethane by addition of hydrogen molecule

2) First oxidize benzaldehyde to benzoic acid using acidified KMNO4. Then convert benzoic acid to sodium benzoyate by using NaOH. Treat the sodium benzoyate with sodaime to get benzene. Subject benzene to Friedal Crafts reaction with methyl chloride in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3 to get toluene.
