f(x) = cos ² x + sec ² x = (cos x - sec x)² + 2 . cos x . sec x

f(x) = (cos x - sec x)² + 2 [ As 2 . cos x . sec x = 2 × 1 = 2 )

If x = 0° then f(x) = 2

If x = 90° then f(x) = (infinity)² + 2 ≥ 2
