Let the number be X

Increasing it by 25%

X+ 0.25X = 1.25X, take this new number as Y (Y=1.25X)

Now, Decrease Y by 10%

Y - 0.10Y = 0.90Y

Therefore, 0.90(1.25X) = 1.125X

So the net change in percentage is 12.5%, and to calculate the net change in number just plug in any value of X here 0.125X
