Mass of object 1, M1 = 100 kg

Mass of object 2, M2 = 200 kg

Before collision:

Velocity of 1st object, u1 = 2m/s

Velocity of 2nd object, u2 = 1 m/s

After colliding :

Velocity of 1st object, V1 = 1.67 m/s

Velocity if 2nd object = V2

Using conservation if momentum along the direction of motion

M1u1 + M2u2 = M1V1 + M2V2

100 ( 2 ) + 200 ( 1 ) = 100 × 1.67 + 200 × v2

200 + 200 = 167 + 200v2

400 = 167 + 200v2

400 – 167 = 200 v2

233 = 200v2

v2 = 233 / 200

V2 = 1.165 m/s

Ans : Velocity of 2nd body after collision is 1.165 m/s
