Given

Parallel sides of a trapezium = 8 cm & 12 cm

Height of trapezium = 5 cm.

To find

Area of trapezium

Solution

We know that,

➥ Area of trapezium = ½ (a + b) × h

Here, a & b are parallel sides of trapezium.

And, h is height of trapezium.

Putting values we get :

⟼ Area of trapezium = ½(8 + 12) × 5

⟼ Area of trapezium = ½ × 20 × 5

⟼ Area of trapezium = 10 × 5

Area of trapezium = 50 cm²

Therefore,

Area of trapezium = (A)50 cm² .

 \bold{Given : }

  • Height of trapezium, h = 5 cm

  • Base of trapezium , b1 = 12 cm

  • Base of trapezium, b2 = 8 cm

 \bold{ To  \: be \:  calculated  : }

Calculate the area of given trapezium.

 \bold{Formula \:  used  : }

 \boxed{ \sf{Area \:  of  \: trapezium  =  \frac{1}{2}  \times (b1 + b2) \times h}}

 \bold{Solution : }

We know that,

Area of trapezium = ½ × ( b1 + b2 ) × h

= ½ × ( 12 + 8 ) × 5

= ½ × 20 × 5

= 10 × 5

= 50 cm²

Hence, the area of given trapezium is 50 cm².

Trapezium: A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides is called trapezium.

Isosceles Trapezium : A trapezium in which two non parallel sides are equal. Each pair of base angles are equal.
