I valued the SHS more and following thoughts come in to mind :-

  • - High school teaches you basic knowledge you need to know.
  • - High school teaches you things you probably don't need to know but that can inspire you or show you what you are passionate about.
  • - High school should teach you how to THINK.. although with the kids I'm surrounded by today, I'd say this doesn't always happen.
  • - High school teaches you to learn, study, etc.
  • - High school teaches you how to make real friendships.
  • - High school teaches you what its like to be in the real world, surrounded by a lot of really annoying people.
  • - High school forces you to learn to work with your peers and authority.
  • - High school gives you the ability to find your passions outside of academics -- sports, clubs, extra-curriculars, other special opportunities, etc.
  • - High school should start introducing you to stress, deadlines, responsibility, etc.
  • - High school usually introduces you to volunteer opportunities.

How I feel

  • In high school, students become responsible. They get ready for the outside world and start learning to handle many things on their own.
  • They figure out more about the courses and competitive exams they can pursue after school and prepare accordingly. Furthermore, they get better exposure and can make the right decisions.
  • Students learn to socialize and make new friends. It helps in improving their communication. Whether these friends stay with them for their entire life, they will give them an experience for life. It will also help them in making friends in the future.
  • High schools are essential for learning essential life skills. It covers various skills, like thinking and decision-making, short-term and long-term goals, expression of thoughts and opinions, problem-solving and analyzing etc.
  • They recognize themselves as a part of society and contribute to it. They work for the society and become an active citizen.
  • They are taught about moral lives and what is right or wrong for them. They gain more maturity.
  • They get involved in activities, sports, and other unique opportunities outside the school that is different from academics.
  • Students are exposed to stress, deadlines etc., so they learn to perform better within the given time and under pressure.
  • They learn to handle and balance their responsibilities with other duties outside the school.
  • Learning different subjects will improve and expand the thinking ability of students. They can opt for their chosen subjects, which they want to pursue in the future and make a career in it.

How do you intend to prepare yourself for that?

  • If I choose to drop out of high school or put no effort into it, I am closing a lot of doors to much bigger experiences. I can't get into college without a high school diploma, I can't get a very decent job, and I won't get any of the opportunities and benefits that can expand off of these things.
