For the first one you need to try and arrange and we can place all the pieces on the board so answer is 15.

15.just place the last piece at the bottom,followed by the first piece at second and he middle most piece must be placed at top

this gives u your answer...and if u aren't able to find your answer then just count the total number of squares.  (LOL,sometimes it works)

16.no of brothers of J=x

no of sis=2+x

total children=x+x+2------1

for mark

brothers=x-1    (as he himself is one of the brother of judy)

sisters=2(x-1)

total=x-1+2(x-1)-------2

since number of children remains same

1=2

2x+2=x-1+2(x-1)

2x+2=3x-3

x=5

therefore brothers are 5 and sisters are 7
