Answer:

COUNT THE NUMBER OF ORBITALS IN THE SUB-SHELLS -S,P,D

Explanation:

In 1s2 , s have one orbital named s-orbital contains 2 electrons

like wise all s-orbitals have 1 orbital only containing 1 minmum or 2 max in it.. may it be 2s,3s,4s,5s,..so on ..

like wise p have three orbitals- {1,1}px,(1,1)py[11]pz... min electron- 1 ..max- 6[ 2 IN EVERY SUB -SUB SHELL]

d have 5 orbitals [11],[11],[11],[11],[11] -containing 1 to 10 orbitals ....

this s.p,d,f are orbitals known as "small L"[symbol] in chemistry the small 'n' - means number of orbit Like 1,2,3,4 ex- in 1s orbital n=1.L=s....

soo,, total no:of orbitals in - 1s2,2s2,2p6,3s2,3p6,3d6,4s2 have

                                                 |       |       |        |      |        |       |

         number of orbitals        1     1       3      1      3     5       [ 1 ]-

as 4s2 it does not have  any electrons in it it is empty so we don't consider it in fe +2 as due so +2 charge the 2 electrons which where to be in 4s2 is been eliminated... therefore ,, add all the avaliable electron which have electron in it - 1s2= 2 electron, 2p6=6 electrons ..etc

so add all -1s,2s,2p,3s,3p,3d= 1+1+3+1+3+5=14..... HOPE U UNDERSTOOD!!!
