A numeric value at which x and y are equal is -40.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given with a linear equation in two variables. Y = (9/5)x + 32.

And we have to find a numeric value at which x and y are equal .

For this, firstly we have to assume that x and y both are equal and we have to put only one variable in the equation assuming that x and y are equal (x = y), that means;

                     Y = (9/5)x + 32

                      x = (9/5)x + 32      {assuming x and y are equal}

                         x - \frac{9}{5} x = 32

                         \frac{5x-9x}{5}  = 32

                           \frac{-4x}{5}  = 32

                            x  = \frac{32 \times 5}{-4}

                            x = -8 \times 5

                            x  =  -40

Hence, a numeric value at which x and y are equal is -40.
