Here is a Question for biology students
it is said that in ancient times Giraffes had short neck but due to shortage of food evolution occured and their neck were elongated , So I have a question that is , Why they don't do evolution again to shorten their neck as Now they have food and they don't need that much long neck ?
The most authentic answer will be marked as brainliest !

zainab1125: Most people assume thatgiraffes' long necks evolved to help them feed. If youhave a long neck, runs the argument, you can eat leaves on tall trees that your rivals can't reach. But there is another possibility. The prodigious necks may have little to do with food, and everything to do withsex.

hello!

  1. giraffes might had a short neck before ages.
  2. now they have long neck not just for feeding
  3. the long necks are meat for a bit of feeding at long trees that rivals cannot reach and everything for mating
  4. and you are asking why don't they evolve to get short neck, this evolution is a very complex process that takes some millions of years to happen a small change.they may do that after long ages
