Nucleus is the control center of the cell as it contains the chromosomes which are the hereditary carriers of any organism to the next generation. The nucleus plays an important role in cellular reproduction as it divides and passes the genetic material to the offspring. The genetic material decides both the appearance and the function of cells. That is why, nucleus is called the control centre of the cell.
Functions of nucleus :-
1) It is the control centre of the cell as it controls all the cellular activities and metabolism.
2) It contains all the genetic information of the organisms.
3) Synthesis of ribosomes

Heridity:-
Is the process of transmission of characteristics of parents to the offsprings.
The Nucleus is the hereditary center of the cell because:-
(1) Nucleus contains Chromosomes.
(2) Chromosome is the physical hereditary unit.
(3) Chromosomes are organized structures made up of DNA and protein like histones.
(4) Genes are the specific parts of a chromosome or DNA segments which determine the hereditary Characteristics.
(5) Gene is the functional hereditary unit.
(6) Genes transfer the Characteristics from parents to offsprings during sexual reproduction.
(7) The nucleus maintains the integrity of genes and controls the activities of the cell by regulating the gene expression. On the basis of above mentioned points we can say that:-
"NUCLEUS IS THE HEREDITARY CENTER OF THE CELL"
Hope it helps.
