Homogeneous mixture: When compounds are equally distributed throughout the mixture it is called homogeneous mixture, i,.e.,they have uniform composition. It has no visible boundaries of separation between its constituents. For eg. mixture of salt in water, Iodine in alcohols, copper sulphate in water, air etc.

Heterogeneous mixture: When components are not equally distributed throughout the mixture it is called heterogeneous mixture, i.e., it have non uniform composition. It has visible boundaries of separation between its constituents. For eg. mixture of sodium chloride and iron fillings, salt and sulphur, oil and water, chalk powder in water, wheat flour in water etc.
