=> For the preparation of NaOH from the brine solution electrolysis method is used. 

=> Electrolysis of brine solution is used for the large scale production of Chlorine gas, NaOH and Hydrogen gas. 

=> The reaction of electrolysis of brine is as follows: 

2NaCl (aq) + 2H2O(l) → H2(g) + Cl2(g) + 2NaOH(aq)

At\:anode: 

2Cl− → Cl2 + 2e−

At\:cathode:

2H+  +  2e− → H2
