the gandhi ji's heroic form the india from South Africa was well known as noble method of agitation and protest based on truth and non violence was known as satyagrah.

in 1916 gandhi ji travelled champaran to inspire the peasants to struggle against oppressive indigo planters .

in 1917 gandhi ji supported the kheda district of gujrat who was suffering from saltage of food due to crop failure and advised them not to pay revenue till there demand of its remission was made it .

in 1918 gandhiji went to ahemdabad to organize a satyagrah movement amongst cotton mill workers.

The Idea of Satyagraha are:

1.The thoughts of Satyagrha stressed the intensity of truth and the need to pursuit of truth.  

2. It recommended that if the reason is true,if the battle is against injustice,then physical powers are not important to restrict the oppressor  

3. Without being forceful a Satyagrahi can win the fight through peacefulness  

4. Gandhiji trusted that reality was bound to extreme triumph.  

5. He trusted that the dharma of peacefulness could join every one of the Indians
