CAUSES OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR :-

● MILLITANT NATIONALISM : In the latter half of the 19th Century, millitant nationalism began in Europe. The existence of a powerful class of millitary and naval officers headed by a staff was one of the awestruck features of millitant nationalism. At the ultimate stage, every people felt convinced that international problems could only be solved through millitant nationalism.

● RACE FOR ARMAMENTS : This led to a fierce competition among the European countries and also during this time Britain and France were concerned with Germany's growing military strength.

● DIVISION OF EUROPE INTO TWO HOSTILE GROUPS : After the death of Bismarck, the German chancellor, France was able to establish friendly relations with Russia and England. The three countries entered into the Triple Entente in 1907 to counter the Triple Alliance. Later, Japan joined the Triple Entente. Thus, Europe was divided into two hostile camps.
