H3PO4------->3H+ +PO4_

It means 1 mole H3PO4 produce 3 mole positive ions and 1 mole negative ion .


But....

In question 0.5 that is 1/2 moles of H3PO4 are given


So.....

0.5mole H3PO4 ---------->3×1/2H+ + 1/2PO4_


0.5moleH3PO4 --------->1.5 H+ + 0.5PO4_


So total moles of positive and negative ions are
