A inner transition metal (Itm) is one of a group (not to be confused with periodic groups) of chemical elements on the periodic table .they include elements 57-71 ( lanthanide ) and 89-103 ( actinides) they are normally shown in two rows below all the other elements. the last electron goes into a 4f orbital which is inside the 6s as Orbital .

The major activities of the inner transition elements are:

1) They forn colour red ions .

2) They are heavy metals .

3)Theyy have high melting point and high boiling point .

4)Some of them are radioactive in nature .

5)They show variable Valencies.
