Explanation:

1.There are four types of animal tissues: epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue and nervous tissue.

2.a.Epithelia are tissues that serve as protective layers and/or secretory components of body organs and systems. In the special senses, some epithelia act as receptors in a sensory capacity. Most epithelia possess common characteristics that contribute to their functional capabilities.

b.Connective tissue has three main components: cells, fibers, and ground substance. ... Major functions of connective tissue include: 1) binding and supporting, 2) protecting, 3) insulating, 4) storing reserve fuel, and 5) transporting substances within the body. Connective tissues can have various levels of vascularity.

c.Muscle tissue is characterized by properties that allow movement. Muscle cells are excitable; they respond to a stimulus. They are contractile, meaning they can shorten and generate a pulling force. When attached between two movable objects, such as two bones, contraction of the muscles cause the bones to move.

d.Nervous tissue is found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. It is responsible for coordinating and controlling many body activities. ... The cells in nervous tissue that generate and conduct impulses are called neurons or nerve cells. These cells have three principal parts: the dendrites, the cell body, and one axon.
