The avagraha(ऽ) is used in Sanskrit grammar and it actually not a letter. It is used between words to give extra time for the pronunciation of a specific vowel and eliminating the vowel sound that comes after it if there is a vowel sound that comes after the avagraha. In IAST it is symbolized with an apostrophe.

Example : रामो (र् + आ + म् + ओ ) + अत्र = रामोत्र
