The criterion used by UNDP ( UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME) for classifying countries is HUMAN DEVELOPMEMT INDEX (HDI).

The points given below are taken into consideration while classifying the countries and all these have a major role to play-

• Educational qualification of the people

• Life expectancy of the people.

• Health of the people.

• Average income of people living in the country.
