The Partition of India in 1947 led to a massive transfer of populations on both sides of the new border. As a result, the population of Delhi swelled, the kinds of jobs people did changed, and the culture of the city became different. ... Thousands of people inDelhi were killed and their homes looted and burned.

hey dear.

The partition resulted in large scale migration of people from both sides of the border. Most of the Muslims left for Pakistan and Hindus and Sikhs came from Pakistan including very few muslims. The occupations of people changed. A  urban culture which was based on Urdu had changed with the arrival of new people. Many settlement colonies were developed as soon as possible for the refugees.

hope it helps..
