As we know,  vernacular languages are those languages which are spoken by common people. By publishing novels in vernacular languages, it helps in better circulation of novels among ordinary people and therefore they also get the opportunity to read novels. Vernacular languages also helped colonial administrators as they are outsiders. They didn't know the customs, religious practices, beliefs, way of living etc of Indians. By reading vernacular novels, they get a better idea about the culture of Indians. This helps the administrators to civilize Indians in a better way.

Answer:

The reason novels use vernacular is to approach and appeal to common people. It is easy and simple for common people to understand. It is a speech of common people. Thesenovels creates a sense of a "shared world" among "diverse people" in a nation or up-brings a sense of acceptance.
