The fact that fish don't die depend on how close they are to the lightning.If they are close to the top portion of the sea,they would suffer a shock that distorts their motor functions, their spines and eventually die off. But water is a good conductor of electricity.So if the fish are a depth of two to three meter in the sea,they would not suffer a shock as the electricity would dissolve even before reaching them.

If fish are near the surface,they can indeed by killed by lightning strikes.Water,though is a good conductor and tends to keep electricity near the surface.Fish deep in the water,that is more tha two or three meters deep generally don't feel it.According to NASA Earth observatory,this makes sense because of the way of ..
