MAY DAY

May day is also known as International Worker's day or Labor's day and it is a public holiday that is celebrated on 1st May.

The first May Day in India was organized by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan in Chennai on 1st May 1923.

The May Day has been dedicated to celebrate the hard work, willingness and determination of the labourers.

It was mainly started because of the poor condition of the laborers in the earlier times. They used to work for 15 hours a day and faced many other problems like injuries and still they were given meagre wages. Due to many health issues and lack of resources the labourers decided to raise their voice. Agitated labourers formed unions that fought for their rights for quite a while.

So, this day is celebrated to encourage the laborer's contribution towards the country's development.
