• Noor Jahan was born on 31st May, in the year 1577.

• Noor Jahan was also known as Mehr-un-Nissa.

• She was know for her beauty, Noor Jahan means - ‘Light of the World’.

• Noor Jahan was the daughter of a Minister which worked for Akbar.

• Jahangir was the eldest son of Akbar was attracted to Noor Jahan's beauty and fell in love with her.

• Noor Jahan was earlier married to Sher Afgan Khan, but Jahangir killed him and married Noor Jahan.

• She was the 20th and last wife of Jahangir.

• Noor Jahan influenced Jahangir's rule a lot.

• Noor Jahan formed a group or ‘Junta’ which exerted great influence on Jahangir.

• Without it support no one could advance in his career and that caused to factions in the court ; on being Noor Jahan, the ‘Junta’ and other its opponents.

• She considerable dominated the royal affairs. Coins were struck in her name.
