Sodium hydroxide is a strong base. on dissolving excess base in a sodium hydroxide, concentration of (OH-) ions per unit volume in the solution increases. if excess base is dissolved then the concentration of (OH⁻) ions will increase.

The concentration of hydroxide ions will increase when excess base is dissolved in a solution of sodium hydroxide, but it happens to a limited extent only after which the concentration becomes almost constant.
